FAQs
Have Questions? Here are the answers to common questions
Q: Where does the event take place?
A: Birdseye Boat Ramp in Stratford or Sunnyside Boat Ramp Shelton (behind Sunnyside School).
Q: What should we wear?
A: This event is rain or shine so please dress appropriately for the weather. We suggest wearing layers. Please also wear proper foot attire (work boots, waterproof boots, waders, etc.). Some of the areas that we access can be dangerous and there can also be dangerous debris in these areas. Some areas are also muddy.
Q: Can we donate? Where do we send donations to?
A: You may donate goods, services, money or come and help us out. There is a donation form and address of where to send monetary donations. Goods and services can be donated through the donation form as well. If you would like to donate heavy equipment or a boat for our use, please either fill out the form and send it, call us, or send an email so that we can coordinate this donation with you.
Q. What do you do with the donations? The donations go toward hosting the event. We buy clean up supplies and refreshments with the money. We are also looking into buying a pump out boat in the future so that we can also help reduce the amount of human waste that enters the river as well as trash and other dangerous debris.
Q: What kind of heavy equipment can I donate?
A: Anything that you don't mind getting a little dirty. Boats, trucks, trailers, etc. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time.
Q: Do we have to pre-register?
A: You can print the registration form at any time and bring it with you the day of the event, especially helpful if you have a large group. Or you can just simply come to either Birdseye Boat Ramp in Stratford or Sunnyside Boat Ramp in Shelton (behind Sunnyside School) to register.
Q: Do you sign off on community service hours?
A: Yes! If you have a form that needs to be signed, please bring it with you. You must sign in and sign out and have the form signed before you leave the boat ramp. If you need a letter for your participation, we can write one for you. You must provide an email address. Your letter will be sent out as soon as possible after the event. Please note that we are NOT responsible for unsigned or misplaced forms.
Q: My child is participating in the clean up, do I have to stay too?
A: Children under 15 years old need to be signed in and supervised by an adult. There are many hazards along the river where anyone can become injured. Children 15 and over can be signed in and picked up later on.
